Samenvatting van 'Paden naar oplossingen'

Bestaat er een manier voor coaches, leidinggevenden, medewerkers en docenten om verandering tot stand te brengen op een snelle en prettige manier? Is er een manier die tegelijk respectvol en resultaatgericht is? Ja, die manier is er: oplossingsgericht werken.

Oplossingsgericht werken helpt om positieve doelen te stellen en uit te vinden wat werkt om vooruit te komen in de richting van die doelen. Oplossingsgericht werken is eenvoudig maar niet gemakkelijk. 'Paden naar oplossingen' helpt om oplossingsgericht werken beter in de vingers te krijgen en meer toepassingsmogelijkheden te ontdekken. Het boek beschrijft de aanpak op een manier die zowel voor beginners als ervaren professionals interessant en nuttig is.

Het boek bevat veel praktijkvoorbeelden en dialogen en legt de principes toegankelijk en helder uit. Bovendien staan in het boek veel nieuwe inzichten en toepassingen. Maar het boek gaat nog een stap verder door een uitgebreid overzicht te bieden van de ontstaansgeschiedenis van de oplossingsgerichte benadering en een beschrijving van wetenschappelijk onderzoek.

Finally I am back in California and I have some time for myself.
I am reading the book "talent is overrated", that you mentioned in your blog posting. Pretty good, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I liked the part where the author describes what deliberate practice is; the part where he describes Ericson's experiment in Berlin with the violin players; I also liked the distinction between "practice" and "deliberate practice" the author makes, supporting it with the fact about how experience does not add up to better performance.
I might be posting a brief comment about that article in my blog in the next few days, of course crediting you.
Frankly, I could have done without the part where he slams the concept of talent: I think he goes too far. And when authors introduce a new concept by blasting away current wisdom they expose themselves to the risk of being ridiculous: like when he tries to make the point that human abilities, not money, are the real asset now because banks and companies are awash in cash - something that read now makes you either laugh or cry, depending on your mood... :)
other than that, I think he is on to something important!!

I was aware of Colvin's work, but I have not read his book; and I haven't gotten the latest Gladwell's book either.
To make a long story short, after checking out what you wrote, I now have both books in my amazon shopping cart.
Xmas break reading! :)

Thanks again for thinking about me in connection with those books.

Right now and up to Xmas I am very very busy with work (which is good), and very little is going on re my writing / research.
I will get back on it during Xmas time, and I might contact you again then for writing something together, if you are still interested.

Do not bother getting Kluge... I thought the book itself was a Kluge!
There are much better books on the design of the human mind and the quirks of our cognition: by Pinker, by Wilson, by Wegner, by Haidt...
I felt the book lacked focus.
Too bad...

Thanks Coert. Just finished two days facilitating a meeting of operations managers (who had never met in person) of an international high-tech company using solution-focused coaching techniques. No violence. Some agreements. Mostly smiles...must have worked for them :)
