Incidentally, all the credit goes to Gale Miller. He presented his ideas at the Vienna SOL conference.

Thank you Liselotte, I've been handing the Better Interview Questions piece to people for quite a few years. Many have told me that they credit the questions with getting them a job offer. Recently, the executive leader of an organization was being interviewed for a leadership role in another business. One of the board members who was interviewing her, spontaneously said, 'I'd like to hire you for my own firm'.

The questions work even better when you coach the individual beforehand with Gunter Lueger's Solution Focus Performance Review.

The combination dramatically re-frames their view of themselves. It also makes the job of the interviewer easier!

And, yes the questions are very useful for consultants when discussion a project. I often use the questions, 'What are your best hopes for the project' and 'If you were in my position, what concerns would you have for me about the project?'

Great post Alan,

As always, very practical, stimulating, great questions!

Also useful for contracting between consultants/ clients...:)

Thanks for your generosity, Alan.

You are such a wonderful resource for our SOL community.
