Reading Paul Z Jackson's summary on the discussion you had re 'staying on the surface' I'm curious how this influences your work (f E.g. With this client)

stay at the surface ?!

I would like to use the case of one of my coachees to discuss the challenges I encounter. Stubbornly she tends to stick to her convictions that seem to be counterproductive. How to stay at the surface and not discuss the deeply rooted convictions? I find it hard to continue the use of interactional descriptions rather than mentalistic explanations. Do you experience this sort of dilemma's and which choices do you make?JoostSee More

Hi Rita, What a pleasure it was to meet you again. Texel was the first step and I consider this step as more than a little step to the beloved future of friendship. Thanks, Joost van Iersel

Where are you based? (City & Country)

In which role(s) do you use SF ideas and tools? (You can pick more than one)
Coach, Trainer, Other
What is your connection to Solution Focused Work (based on Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer at BFTC Milwaukee and others)?
In my coaching practise I work ecclectively. The emphasis is however on the ideas and practise of SF. The results of working with future orientation, the 're-use' of available resources and scale questions is a gift.

As a senior lecturer at the Avans University of applied sciences I use the Sf ideas as much as possible in the curriculum (PT) and communication skills of the students. It is a great asset in the relation with the patients, e.g. as a incentive to behavioural change of patients
